Sylvia Tomkinson
Sylvia Tomkinson is a Hampshire-based jeweller who has been designing and handcrafting contemporary jewellery for over 35 years. Her work is characterised by a love of contrast—whether in texture, colour, or material—often combining sterling silver with gold accents, semi-precious stones, or oxidised finishes to create striking, one-of-a-kind pieces.
Originally a hobbyist, Sylvia registered her hallmark at Goldsmiths’ Hall in 1978 and has since developed a distinctive style through years of practice and technical workshops. Her collections are diverse, ranging from delicate filigree and floral motifs to bold, sculptural forms. Recently, she has been exploring the vibrant possibilities of titanium, using heat and anodising techniques to introduce colour into her work.
Sylvia’s jewellery is known for its individuality and craftsmanship, with each piece handmade and unique. Her designs are exhibited through galleries, art trails, and online platforms, and she is an active member of several regional arts and jewellery organisations.
