Sammy O'Brien

Dorset-based jeweller Sammy O'Brien creates tactile silver jewellery inspired by landscape, natural textures, earth, stone and light, and by the marks left by time and human hands. Drawn to things that are weathered, worn or eroded, Sammy wants each piece to feel discovered rather than simply made - a personal object that carries meaning for the wearer.

Working mainly in silver, Sammy combines oxidised and polished surfaces with gold, gemstones and contrasting textures, mixing traditional fabrication with less predictable processes such as fusing, water casting, texturing and keum boo. The tension between deliberate marks and surfaces shaped by heat, melting and chance gives the work its tactile, gently weathered quality.
