Nic Monks

Nic Monks is a Hampshire-based jeweller and silversmith who creates unique, handcrafted jewellery using recycled silver and salvaged materials. His work celebrates contrast, creativity, and conscious craftsmanship, combining traditional silversmithing techniques with a contemporary design ethos. By pairing precious metals with non-traditional elements such as salvaged Formica, wood veneer, and repurposed plastics, Nic challenges conventional expectations and highlights the beauty in overlooked materials.

After a career in IT and a life-changing personal experience, Nic retrained as a jeweller, driven by a desire to create meaningful, sustainable art. His collections are shaped by the materials he sources - ranging from defunct electronics to waste wood - and each piece tells a story of renewal and transformation. Nic’s jewellery is not only a celebration of individuality and craftsmanship but also a reminder of the value hidden in the discarded and the everyday.

His current collections focus on mixed, recovered materials – precious metal combined with salvaged scraps of wood or Formica – inviting reflection on what we treasure, what we discard, and how we might see the world differently when we look again. His deeply textured wooden brooch was Highly Commended in the 2025 Winter Jewels Best in Show award.
