Monica Wilson
Monica Wilson is a designer-maker of silver jewellery whose work is deeply inspired by the natural world. With a lifelong passion for the environment and active involvement in conservation, she draws on the textures, shapes, and colours of nature to inform her designs. Her pieces often feature life-like silver bees, cast oak leaves, acorns, ginkgo and sycamore forms, enamel butterflies, and chalk-stream-inspired brooches.
Working primarily in sterling silver, Monica uses traditional silversmithing techniques such as casting, chasing, repoussé, fold forming, and texturing with a rolling mill. She enhances her work with touches of gold, enamel, pearls, and amber, adding colour and depth. Burnishing techniques bring flashes of light to her surfaces, echoing the play of sunlight in natural settings.
Monica has studied with a number of renowned experts, including Jinks McGrath, Fabrizio Acquafresca, and Jessica Turrell, and has trained at institutions such as Goldsmiths College and City Lit. Her jewellery is both expressive and refined, celebrating the beauty of the natural world through craftsmanship and thoughtful design.
