Kathryn Arbon
K athryn's jewellery incorporates intricately pierced designs in silver and gold which often include hidden words or messages, to be discovered by the wearer. Her one-off pieces of jewellery take many hours to make and she enjoys seeing the open-work patterns evolve before her. In some cases designs are not repeated, others are cast as limited edition runs from a hand pierced master.
Drawing inspiration from American Indian motifs and Ancient Greek patterns, she has a fascination with how open spaces interconnect and come together like a puzzle.
Kathryn uses many different techniques in her work such as wax carving for casting, and also Keum-Boo - an Ancient Korean technique of bonding gold to the surface of silver using heat and pressure.
